I moved from Thanet to Herne bay six years ago, didn’t know anyone or anywhere for that matter! I basically slept in Herne bay and then the rest of the time I spent at work in margate. Didn’t really enjoy living in Herne bay, I didn’t feel part of the community...
It was pretty lonely to be honest! I was on my way to the Isle of Wight New Year’s Eve 3 years ago when I saw an advert for a beginners running club and immediately signed up for it, it started in January and then come the day there I was with all the gear and no idea running with some lovely people starting from the beginning like me! It was fab, I loved it! I loved it so much I started doing the group classes as well, I was in the gym getting fitter and having great time with these lovely people and this cheeky chap that was the trainer, but actually the first trainer I’d met that wasn’t just interested in his reflection in the mirror and chatting up the pretty blonde lady in the gym. James is inspiring and motivational and has all the enthusiasm of Mr Motivator from breakfast tv in the 80’s. My first impression was good, very good and that has never changed over the years. It’s not just a load of hype to get get you through the door and make you sign up, it’s continuous... they are always there to help and advise and push you if you need it. My impression of JF hasn’t altered at all! My first goal was to shift some weight, and get fitter and stronger!! I’ve achieved all of that and more! I’m working on my strength and stamina now. I have lots of good memories of JF, I can’t name a particular one but I know there are many.
